An unexpected visitor joined a fire crew on a callout to a fire at a Bradford farm last week, when a pet cat snuck onboard the fire engine.

Jennifer Wood lives next door to Corsham Fire Station with her pet cat Poppy, who was sleeping inside the engine when it was called to a job at Hogsbottom Farm near the five-way traffic lights on the A365.

She said: “On arrival at the farm firefighters opened the back lockers to turn on the water pumps and a terrified Poppy shot out of the fire engine and fled.

“Local vets and cat sanctuaries have been notified and she may be trying to find her way home, but she has not been seen on the farm since the night of the fire, and we’ve had no response from online advertising or poster campaigns.

"She is a tortoiseshell colour with white tail tip and furry white belly. She’s microchipped, and has a silver reflective collar.

We miss her terribly, and we would be most grateful if anyone has seen her.”
