True love was sealed with a kiss when a Bradford on Avon couple had a Valentine’s Day wedding this morning.

IT programmer Lee True, 36, married nurse Clare Crisp, 40, at Trowbridge’s new ceremonial room in County Hall in front of their families.

The couple, who have been together for five years, got engaged six months ago and Mr True initially kept the wedding date a secret from his bride.

He said: “I was really nervous at first mostly about the weather but now that we are married I really don’t care about that stuff and it seems a little silly.

"I’m an old romantic and I thought it would be really fitting and memorable to get married on Valentine’s Day.”

The new Mr and Mrs True are having a reception for family and friends at their home later on today and plan to book a honeymoon in Spain later this year.

Mrs True said: “I’m really pleased, it is a lovely feeling to get married on Valentine’s Day and I’m looking forward to having a big celebration.”

The newlyweds are only the fourth couple to have got married at the new register office which has replaced the old one across the road at The Chestnuts.

Linda Foulkes, who works in Wiltshire registration services, said: “We want to congratulate the couple and wish them a happy future together.

"This is our first Valentine’s Day with our new ceremonial room and we are really pleased to have the new venue.”

Mr and Mrs True were one of three couples having a Valentine’s Day wedding at Trowbridge’s new ceremonial room.
