It was a very special day at Westwood with Iford School on March 31 as children were able to bring their mums to school and involve them in their learning.
Mother’s Monday is a new event in the school calendar and was well supported giving mums an insight into their child’s school day and to generally be made to feel extra special.
Taking part in story writing, mental maths, phonics and hands-on DT modelling, going out to play and sampling school dinners were just a few of the activities on offer on Mother’s Monday, all starting with a lively morning assembly.
Headteacher Ian Rockey said: “Our mums are so special to us, so it seems fitting that they should be invited in to share our school day and take part in our learning by way of a thank you for all that they do every day.”
Not that the dads will be missed out, of course. Father’s Friday is already being planned for June 20.
