Bradford on Avon is gearing up for the Tour of Britain on Friday, September 12, by opening a town bike trail.

TT Cycles, in conjunction with the town council and the Tourist Information Centre, is sponsoring the trail, which started last Friday and runs until the day before the race goes through the town.

On September 12, roads along the route will start to shut from 10.20am, as the riders approach Wiltshire through Bradford on Avon.

Rolling closures will be used ahead of the peloton, which will include last year's winner Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Residents and visitors to the town will find a series of bicycles popping up in various places, in a range of colours and decorations.

Every bike will have the name of a famous cyclist inscribed somewhere on it and all people need to do is follow the trail and name the cyclists.

Trail maps, costing 50p, are available from the TIC and the winners will be announced on September 12, the day the Tour of Britain races through the town.

TT Cycles and Bradford on Avon Town Council are sponsoring the first and second prizes, a brand new bicycle and a new safety helmet respectively.
