A heroin addict dole cheat has been remanded in custody by a judge to stop her continuing to offend.

Leanne Shore, 27, had been due to be sentenced for the benefits fraud at Swindon Crown Court on Thursday last week.

But Shore not only failed to turn up for the probation service to compile a pre-sentence report but has also committed other offences.

Mike Jeary, defending, told the court that she did not seek bail while a report weas prepared to help the sentencing judge.

He said: "She entered her plea at the last appearance in this court and she was advised, and accepts, that she must keep her appointment with the probation service. She didn't.

"We have also committed other offences while on bail. We are a heroin addict and we are having terrible trouble trying to deal with it.

"I have had two circular discussions with her about whether she can go to counselling. It has to come from her."

He said that she would not be seeking bail so there was time for a report to be compiled and the other offences to catch up and be sentenced together.

Shore, of Bancroft, Bradford on Avon, pleaded guilty to two counts of benefit fraud.

She failed to notify the Department of Work and Pensions and Wiltshire Council of a change of circumstances between 2007 and April 2013.

Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to Thursday, October 9, and remanded her in custody so a pre-sentence report could be prepared.

He said: "You are getting yourself in a lot of trouble that is likely to end in a custodial sentence. You will be remanded in custody now."
