Tom Bowles, who works at Hartley Farm Shop and Cafe in Winsley, was crowned Local Food Farmer of the Year, sponsored by Isuzu, at last night’s Farmers Weekly Awards.

The judges said: “This year’s winner has shown hugely impressive leadership, vision and passion to create an inspiring local food destination.”

The top winner of the night was Poul Hoveson, from Holkham Estate in Norfolk, who was crowned 2014 Farmers Weekly Farmer of the Year, as well as Arable Farmer of the Year, at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.

At Hartley Farm’s Summer Fair last month, Mr Bowle said: “For us, there is nothing better than seeing the farm full of smiley faces.

“Our aim is to create an entertaining, but also educational environment on our farm and our Summer Fair celebrates that perfectly.”
