FITNESS fan Paul Bryant is due to complete a 1,824-mile charity challenge today in aid of Dorothy House in Winsley.

Mr Bryant, 49, of Manor Fields in Bratton, began his cycling challenge in January and has stacked up the miles on cycling and rowing machines at the Dynamik-Bodyz Health and Fitness Club in Westbury.

He aims to complete the final 10 miles by cycling from the gym to the Dorothy House hospice with friends on Sunday. The challenge was in memory of his late father-in-law who was cared for at Dorothy House.

Mr Bryant said: “Dorothy House looked after him so well and the support has been amazing. To be able to raise more than £500 for them has been overwhelming.”

His initial fundraising target was only £500 but a snowball effect amongst friends, family and colleagues on social media has raised £1,300.

The decision to cycle 1,824 miles was based on the distance from John O’ Groats to Lands End and back. After Sunday’s ride he will present Dorothy House with the final cheque from donations.
