BRADFORD on Avon area board awarded groups more than £17,000 in funding at a meeting on Wednesday night.

Holt Sports and Recreation Committee received their full £5,000 request towards resurfacing a multi-use games area.

Bradford on Avon Youth and Community Centre Users Group were also awarded £5,000 towards the refurbishment and reopening of the centre on Frome Road which the council officially took over at the start of the year.

Winsley Cricket Club are now hoping that, with an additional £1,380 in funding, they will be able to purchase a new bowling machine which will help their coaches attract young players to compete in their summer programme.

Bradford’s Community Emergency Volunteers were awarded £1,750 towards the purchase of a reconditioned container to store equipment such as sandbags. It has not yet been confirmed where the container will be kept.

Bradford on Avon Community Area Network were given £3,000 to carry out a disability audit and to produce a public information film outlining the difficulties of accessing buildings, shops and services in the town.

The town’s Lock-Up Patch Up Team were awarded £1,000 to refurbish the interior of the lock up on the town bridge.
