DOROTHY House is celebrating this week after record numbers of men turned out to take part in the third Bath Men’s Walk which is hoped to raise £40,000.

The eight-mile event, which starts at the Winsley-based hospice and finishes at the Rec in Bath, is organised by Bath Rugby Foundation and Dorothy House and saw 483 men and boys take part.

The day was kicked off by ITV weatherman Bob Crampton before chief executive of Dorothy House John Davies, and general manager of Bath Rugby Foundation, Mandy Gardner, gave the walkers a few words of wisdom.

The walkers took two hours to complete the route and were greeted with a pie and a pint ready to watch England v France in the 2015 Six Nations Campaign, with many pitstopping at the unofficial watering stop at The George pub in Bathampton.

Phillippa Watson, event joint organiser at Dorothy House said: “We are thrilled that the walk has been another fantastic success, and we would like to thank all those that took on the challenge for us.”
