BRADFORD on Avon police officer, PC Martin Annetts, will be presented with the Golden Gudgeon Award at the annual town meeting tomorrow by the Chamber of Commerce.

The highly-regarded award is given to people who the business community feels have gone above and beyond the call of duty for the town.

PC Annetts, who has been a police officer for the past 27 years, said: "I feel privileged to have been carefully considered and nominated, and then chosen for this award, especially as the others nominated also deserve this.

"It's also a privilege to police the community of Bradford on Avon. Officers, like me, working in the town's Neighbourhood Policing Team work hard and do what we do to give the people of Bradford on Avon the best policing they deserve."

Caroline Philpott, former President of Bradford on Avon Chamber of Commerce, said: “Martin has always been passionate about the town, he makes it a priority to find out what is going on, he is very approachable.

"We, as a business community, feel very confident that he will do his best for us, he is well known in the town and even when he is off duty he keeps his ears and eyes open.

“I think everyone can tell a story as to how Martin has helped a situation and how understanding he has been.”

The annual town meeting takes place tomorrow in St Margaret’s Hall at 7.30pm.
