BRADFORD on Avon now has a new mayor after councillors voted in Alison Craddock to uphold the position at a meeting last night.

Cllr Potter, who has been the mayor of the town for the past three years, nominated Cllr Craddock for the role and councillors unanimously decided to back his judgement.

As she was handed the mayoral chain, Cllr Craddock said: “John is an extremely hard act to follow and I would like to thank him for all his work over the last three years.”

Cllr Craddock has been at the town council for 12 years and during this time she has been at the forefront of reopening the community centre after it was closed down last year by Wiltshire Council. She is also involved in the French twinning association.

Cllr Potter thanked councillors for the support he had received over the last three years and said it was a pleasure to be the mayor of Bradford on Avon for so long.

At the meeting, Cllr Laurie Brown was also appointed as deputy mayor with a majority of five votes to four.
