Christchurch School pupil George Hearn, aged eight, has raised £301 for WaterAid by fundraising and sponsorship from a three-mile fun run that took place at the school’s May Fair.
George, with the help of his sister Rosie and friend Emma Lawson, spent several craft days making pencil pots, coasters, necklaces, bracelets, keyrings and bookmarks along with lucky ticket prizes which they sold on their stall. Friends helped them with the selling during the day.
Hoping to raise £150 to provide safe clean drinking water for 10 people, they managed to raise £301 which means helping 20 people. Gift aid will increase this amount further.
Mum Cathy Hearn said: “It was all George’s idea and the children have learned so much from this fundraising experience and we are extremely proud of them.”
