COLOURFUL cartoon characters felt the burn on Saturday after a set of exhausting charity fitness challenges at St Laurence School, Bradford on Avon.

Approximately 80 fancy dress fundraisers underwent eight gruelling 45-minute exercises, from 9am-4pm, in aid of Dorothy House Hospice Care and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The annual event, organised by ATP Health and Fitness, is in its fifth year and to date has raised more than £12,000 and organisers are hoping to raise more than £2000 this year.

ATP personal trainer Trevor Bramble, who dressed as comic villain Dick Dastardly said: “We had a fantastic group of classes who always love to support good causes, and this is one of their highlights of the year.

“It’s incredibly tough but everyone feels such a sense of achievement when they finish.

“There was a wide range of ages from teenagers to pensioners. Some intended to only do the first few sessions but ended up staying for the whole day, and one of the sessions had up to 60 people taking part.”

Mr Bramble chose the Great Ormond Street Hospital because his sister spent much of her childhood there fighting neurofibroma and the Hospice was selected due to a former club member, Annie Tomlinson, sadly passing away last year.
