BRADFORD on Avon residents are calling on the Wiltshire Council to clamp down on their neighbours leaving their rubbish out days before collection.

Residents are repeatedly reporting businesses and the town’s people are leaving their bins out days before the Monday collection, which is mired by the elements, cats and rodents.

Tessa Edgecombe, of Market Street, is at the end of her tether with the council’s repeated inertia on this issue as people are leaving out rubbish up to six days before it is collected, according to Mrs Edgecombe.

“I am fed up, and so are many of my fellow Bradfordians with this,” she said. “It looks awful and the council aren’t doing enough about it. They’ve been contacted on numerous occasions but nothing is happening.

“The only way to get a response from them is to register it as a fly tipping incident which is a waste of their money.”

In response to this, the council released this statement: “We understand residents’ concerns and when we were made aware of this issue we visited the area to investigate further.”

“We hope to find out who is responsible so we can remind them to dispose of their waste properly and on the correct day. Residents are required to use labels provided for their domestic waste bags.

“Any bags without labels would not be collected but should be reported by the collection crew so we could investigate. Should any resident be concerned, we would ask them to report issues by phoning 0300 456 0102 so we can work together to resolve them as quickly as possible.”
