THE BRADFORDIANS’ production of Alan Bennett’s Lady in the Van from November 5-7 at St Margaret’s Hall is fast approaching with final rehearsals occurring this week.

The group previously performed Alan Bennett’s comedy Habeas Corpus and group’s chairman Phil Courage is looking forward to delving into the playwright’s collection again.

“Rehearsals are going very well,” said Mr Courage. “There is a real positive buzz about the place. Everyone is really enthusiastic about it and we cannot wait to get started. It’s coming together nicely.”

“It’s really great to do an up to date play that is now a feature film,” he said. “Alan Bennett’s plays are very well known on the amateur circuit and we really enjoy performing his work.

“We built from scratch our own ‘campervan’ and Reliant Robin and that was probably the most challenging bit of work we have ever done – making an object with wheels.”

There is no let up for the award winning amateur dramatics group as they are holding auditions for the Three Little Pigs and Red Riding Hood from Roald Dahl’s wicked Revolting Rhymes at the Lambert Rooms at 7pm on November 10 or 12.

“It will be a real family affair,” said Mr Courage. “We are looking for kids from the age of six upwards. It’s all about just coming along and having a go – it should be great fun.”

Each night the show will commence at 7.30pm and tickets will cost £12 for adults with £10 concessions.
