MEMBERS of Bradford on Avon’s Tuesday Luncheon Club have presented a cheque for £750 to the Salisbury branch of Parkinsons UK, at a recent lunch at Cumberwell Park.

The lunch club, who will celebrate their 20th anniversary next month, have chosen the charity as their charity of the year and expect more donations to come in before the year end.

“We are very proud and pleased to have raised this money for a great cause,” said Sue James, the programme’s secretary since the club formed.

The club, which has monthly meetings and has hosted various famous guest speakers over the years, was formed by Sue James, Carolyn Walker and Sue Whittington in 1995 and has gone from strength to strength since then.

“We have come a long way from just the three of us,” she said. “Now we have 120 members and a waiting list of 30 more. It is great fun. We try to get cheery and not dreary guests to keep everyone happy and looking forward to the next one.”

The club has hosted celebrities such as actress Stephanie Cole, OBE, best-selling author Michael Dobbs and media personality Christine Hamilton among others.
