MOTOR RACING legend Jem Marsh’s Bradford on Avon Mini Marcos motorcar was on display at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC, Birmingham, on November 14 and 15.

The event marked 20 years since Chris Marsh, the son of Mr Marsh, who co-founded the Mini Marcos car company which had a factory in Bradford on Avon, Tommy Erdos and Cor Euser completed the famous 24-hour Le Mans race.

The trio were reunited with their Marcos LM 600, car 71 on that day, which crossed the line in 1995 to tremendous cheers and excitement, according to Lyn Marsh, the widow of Mr Marsh.

During the weekend club members from the Marcos Owners Club and Club Marcos International, paid tribute to Mr Marsh with an array of different models from over the years.

Lyn Marsh said: “The Club officials and members worked very hard to put the show on and it is thanks to the stalwart followers and owners of the cars that keeps the Marcos marque to the forefront.”

The classic motor show also showcased the company’s very first chassis car, The Flying Splinter, which was built almost 60 years ago, all the way up through to the LM600.

More than 60 people also gathered at Wroxall Abbey Hotel for a reunion of the drivers, sponsors and club members at a Jem Marsh tribute dinner.

“It was a wonderful reunion and it was such a special, happy occasion with old and new friends,” said Mrs Marsh. “I couldn’t have asked for anything better for people to remember my fun-loving husband by. It was an exceptional weekend.”
