POLICE have confirmed the body of Sue Timbrell, 64, has been found this afternoon in the River Avon, near Staverton and Holt.

Mrs Timbrell, of Holt, was reported missing by her husband at 4.30pm on Tuesday and extensive searches were being carried out in the area to try and locate her.

Today, a police spokesman said: "Formal identification has taken place and we can confirm the deceased to be Sue Timbrell, aged 64, from Holt, Bradford on Avon.

"We would like to thank all those involved in the searches, including Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR), as well as the press and public for their assistance in sharing the appeal.

"At this stage there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding Sue’s death, and a file will now be prepared for H M Coroner for Wiltshire.

"Our thoughts remain with Sue's family at this very difficult time."

Mrs Timbrell was last seen at 9.30am on Tuesday by her husband as he left for work. When he returned home later that day at 4.30pm she had gone missing and he contacted the police.

It is also understood she suffered from depression and did not take her handbag with her.
