AFTER 10 days of frantic searching, a Bradford on Avon couples’ keys have been found at the Dorothy House charity Shop in the Shambles on December 22.
Rod and Janet Johnston, of Abbey Mill, had misplaced their set of keys, containing their accommodation, car, safe, son’s and daughter’s keys, on December 12.
After feverishly searching their house, through recycling, reporting it to the Wiltshire Police asking friends and family, the agonising wait is over after being discovered at the charity shop.
“The relief is enormous,” said Rod Johnston. “We searched everywhere, it was a desperate situation and we were beginning to lose hope. We just couldn’t think what had happened.
“We had been to Dorothy House 10 days previously to donate some clothes but when we called the first time the staff there said no keys had been recovered.
“When I got the spectacular news that they had been discovered I whizzed down to the shop in a heartbeat. “The most beaming, happy and delighted lady greeted me saying she had the keys. I am absolutely delighted and when I told my wife she screamed with delight. I cannot thank them enough.”
On greeting the shop’s assistant manager, Sue Moffet, Mr Johnston gleefully thanked her and gave her a bottle of prosecco for discovering the missing keys.
“Isn’t it magical news?” said Mrs Moffet. “I was going through some donation bags and out fell a big bunch of keys. It was lucky he had his phone number on it. When I rang with the good news, there was silence and then an explosion of noise.”
