BRADFORD on Avon’s Tuesday Luncheon Club celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Cumberwell Park Golf Club with more than 110 members attending.

The milestone event involved a magician, a caricaturist, live acoustic music, singing and a nostalgic photo montage over the past two decades.

“We had an excellent turnout and a great time too,” said Sue James, the programme’s secretary since the club formed.

“Lots have reported back saying they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and saying thank you for the whole event. Here’s to another 20 years.”

Club chairman Sue Whittington echoed Mrs James’ sentiments as well as thanking those present, who all received a plant, for their support and helping the club grow.

“It was an excellent Christmas lunch and we continue to go from strength to strength,” she said. “The 20 years has gone terribly quickly. The only problem is we are getting a bit older.”

Mrs James added: “It has been a great 20 years and we continue to grow still with more people keen to join.”

“I’ve made lifelong friendships meeting people from all over the place and from different backgrounds. I just hope we can continue our success for as long as possible.”

Over the 20 years, the club has hosted celebrities such as actress Stephanie Cole, OBE, best-selling author Michael Dobbs and media personality Christine Hamilton among others.

The monthly club, which always hosts its events at the Cumberwell Park Golf Club, also raised £750 for the Salisbury branch of Parkinson UK for their chosen charity last month.
