HUNDREDS of donations have flooded into Dorothy House Hospice Care in Winsley and Bath Cats and Dogs Home following a giving Christmas tree project in Bradford on Avon.

The tree in Lamb Yard, organised by Christopher Curtis, Frome College’s head of maths and a town resident, has been inundated with contributions since it opened for business late last month.

Drop off points were situated under the 15ft Nordic pine, whose decorations were designed by local glass artist Alex Compton, with tins of animal food being donated to the Bath Cats and Dogs Home and hampers for Dorothy House.

“It has been a real success, I am over the moon about it. I want to say a big thank you to the community who have donated hundreds of packages and tins to the collection points, showcasing the town’s generosity,” said Mr Curtis.

“We have already agreed to build on this year’s success and continue it next year, people have really got behind it which is extremely satisfying.”

“I’ve had so much positive feedback and to know the community genuinely cares is a wonderful feeling and all of it is going to a lot of great causes,” he said.

Dorothy House Hospice Care community fundraiser Michelle Yard said: “The project was a brilliant concept and people have spoken very highly of it. Donations are still being collected but we are really pleased and thankful for those who took the effort to do their bit.”

Bath Cats and Dogs Home fundraiser, Zena Jones, said: “I have been really impressed with this fantastic effort. It’s been brilliant and we are so grateful to Chris and the people of Bradford on Avon for their donations."
