NURSERY children and staff at Leigh Cottage Childcare in Bradford on Avon can celebrate after earning four outstanding ratings from Ofsted inspectors.

The nursery at Sladesbrook opened in 2007 and secured its third straight perfect review after the nine-hour inspection on January 6.

The nursery’s effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children all were deemed as outstanding.

“We are absolutely over the moon, particularly because the last one was four years ago,” said nursery manager Kate Eastwood.

“The bar has been raised considerably since then. It is much harder to achieve this. Everything is a lot more thorough now. The inspector kept stressing how proud we should be for this and we want to shout about it as loud as we can. We are thrilled."

“I know the staff have been working to those standards but you can never be sure. The feedback was so positive but we were always expecting a ‘but’, but thankfully it never came.”

The report praised the excellence of their programme of training opportunities, language skills, its highly stimulating environment and children making rapid progress in all areas of learning.

It also lauded the nursery in its thorough analysis by observing lessons, activities, documentation organisation and planning as well as talking to children, staff and parents.

“There is never a feeling of complacency here, we’re not resting on our laurels. Our children are nurtured, cared for and provided for,” said Mrs Eastwood.

“This is a nice big pat on the back. It is nice to know you are doing the right thing and instilling that positive ethos by creating a home from home environment. It is a big team effort.”
