THE HUNT was on for children in Bradford on Avon this morning who braved the weather to take part in the Bradford Lions' Easter egg hunt.

Over 80 children from the town braved the weather the take part in the traditional Easter event which has been reintroduced to the town for the second year in a row.

Brian Hersee, 74, of Southway Park, past president of the Bradford Lions, said: “We were getting everything set up by half 9 with the hunt starting at 10.40am, just after the Easter bonnet judging. It was a very successful day it was just such a pity it was so cold but the children seemed to enjoy themselves.

“We hid red rawl plugs around the perimeter of the field and then set the children off to find them. When they had collected one they could then swap it for a Cream Egg. By the end we had given out about 200 eggs, we also gave some to the smaller children because we didn’t want them to go away with nothing.”

The hunt, now in its second reincarnation, was a popular event in the town for the younger children.

“We ran it for a while before it was cancelled about five years ago, everyone thought it had had its time. Then there were a lot more young children in the town so when I was Lions president last year I decided it may be worth giving it another go, hopefully we will bring it back again next year,” added Mr Hersee.
