SOME of the best folk musicians the UK has to offer will perform at the Wiltshire Music Centre on May 15 for the county's first ever Climate Aid concert.

From 3.30pm onwards, a cornucopia of musical acts, including Robert Harbron (English Concertina), Sam Sweeney (Fiddle), Leveret, Miranda Rutter, Steph West (harp) and Peter Flood will perform at the Bradford on Avon centre as part of Climate Aid 2016.

The event, introduced by BBC Radio 3's Verity Sharp and BBC Radio 2's folk duo Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin, aims to raise awareness about climate change and highlight local successes in combating it whilst raising money for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Water Aid.

Mr Henry said: "We are really looking forward to performing in Wiltshire again, particularly since the event raises awareness about the important issue of climate change and supports two fantastic charities."

The concert will also feature Wiltshire favourites The Yirdbards (Paul Darby, Patrick Randall, Verity Sharp and Iona Hassan) and Massed Youth Climate Choir.

Iona Hassan, event organiser, said: "We are incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic line-up for the Climate Aid concert. We hope lots of people will come along, enjoy the activities and hear some superb music."

The day will commence from 1pm with a range of activities, stalls, barbecues and much more organised by the Wild Connections team from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

The concert is presented by Wiltshire and Swindon Climate Action Network, a collective of low carbon community groups and organisations with a common aim: to urgently tackle climate change.

Tickets cost £12 for adults and £8 for under 16's. For more information call 01225 860100 or visit www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk
