BRADFORD on Avon's community hub has thanked Sainsbury's for supplying their food bank with more than 3000kg of food parcels over the past year.

The Hub@BA15 centre, of Church Street, operates as a foodbank, a debt management service, a citizens’ advice bureau, a credit union and other activities.

Since its inception it has catered to hundreds of people in the last year with food and the Hub's coordinator Avril Clark thanked Sainsbury's for being a big part of that success.

"We are very grateful for their continued help and we really appreciate their support in enabling this foodbank to be an effective one and long may that continue," she said.

"We have worked well together to forge this partnership. They have been a big part of this venture.

"What is exciting is that this is just the beginning. Our volunteers our fantastic, without them it would not work and for that we are very thankful."

Sainsbury's PR Ambassador Anne-Marie Milsom said: "It has been a huge success, with a wonderfully generous amount of support by the people of Bradford on Avon.

"It gets collected two-three times a week, it is so busy. We used to have a foodbank link with a place in Bath but when this town's one reached out to us we gladly took it on.

"I am very happy with how everything has gone and I look forward to many more years of success."

The hub is governed by a trust made up of three sponsoring organisations – Bradford Churches Together, the town council and the Bradford on Avon Community Network.

Deputy Mayor Laurie Brown and chairman of the trust added: “It is very rewarding to see the help we give out appreciated and make a difference.

We are proud of what this has become and overwhelmed by the thanks we have had. It has certainly surpassed my expectations. Not only do we help people in difficult circumstances, we provide them with a warm and welcoming place to go.

"When we put this project together people questioned if it was necessary and I think we have shown that – it has been more than justified.”
