A WHOPPING £4,000 was raised for Dorothy House by Bradford on Avon's Timbrell's Yard who threw a party to toast the hospice's 40th birthday.

On Thursday, May 5, the popular hotel and restaurant hosted a drinks reception and three-course meal for more than 100 guests.

An auction followed the meal, with Dorothy House Hospice Care’s Chief Executive, John Davies, getting the bidding underway.

The standout lot was an evening at home with head chef Ricky Ford, cooking for six people, which went for £1,000.

Dorothy House chief executive John Davies said: “The joint birthday celebrations were a resounding success, thanks to the hard work of the whole team at Timbrell’s Yard and the incredible generosity of the diners on the night.

"It was a pleasure to be able to say a few words about the breadth of work carried out by Dorothy House and our vision for the next 40 years. The money raised will certainly make a difference to the excellent care we provide.”

The award-winning Timbrell's Yard is also celebrating its first anniversary, following a £1.5m investment that started in 2014.

Rob Greacen, managing director of the Draco Pub Company, which owns the venue, said: "The evening was a great success and we are delighted to have raised over £4,000 for Dorothy House.

"Both Timbrell’s Yard and Dorothy House celebrate milestone birthdays this year and it has been a pleasure to come together and to be able to help such a fantastic local charity.

"I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the event: the guests; the fundraising team at Dorothy House Hospice Care; and especially the team at Timbrell’s Yard who did a fantastic job and produced such a memorable evening.

“Ever since we have opened we have been overwhelmed by the support we have had from the local community and would like to say a very big thank you."

The event also included a champagne reception on the venue's terrace followed by live music from Gavin Lazarus.
