A WANDERING cow decided to have an appointment at Bradford on Avon's dental surgery on Thursday afternoon.

At 3pm, PCSO Andrew MacLachlan was called to after a cow had taken a detour from their field and was on the loose in the town centre.

The cow had been reported running down Bridge Street, onto St Margaret's Hill before entering Station Car Park.

Several members of the public were trying to keep the cow in the corner of the car park whilst PCSO MacLachlan, using his local knowledge, hatched a plan for its rescue.

This involved a farmer, a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Animal Rescue Team, Network Rail and the RSPCA.

After a two hour operation, the cow was safely taken away before being led back to the field.

The stakes were raised when a second cow had been reported on the train tracks and eventually made her way into a field and out of danger - nobody was injured.
