CAKE glorious cake was on offer in abundance at Bradford on Avon’s St Margaret’s Hall on Sunday to toast the Queen’s 90th birthday at the Mayor’s tea party.

The jam-packed venue had live music, free tea and cake, flags, bunting and a lorry-load of patriotic spirit to celebrate the special occasion from 2-4pm.

Mayor Alison Craddock said at the hall: “I would like to thank everyone for coming to this wonderful event today and to all the volunteers who made this possible.

“I am very happy you are all here to celebrate this special occasion and to raise money for a great cause such as Save the Children.”

MP Michelle Donelan added: “This is a fantastic get together and once again with Bradford on Avon it is clear to see the great sense of community here.

“It is testament to the town council for putting together such a lovely event. This is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the Queen, our community and our friendship.”

Nick Steel, who was playing music from the 1920-50’s on his gramophone in the shape of a pram, said: “People have paid my ‘pramaphophone’ a lot of compliments. It has got all the bells and whistles, it even has a wonderful pram suspension.

“There is quite the demand for it at weddings and parties and it this is a nice occasion for it as well.”
