CELEBRATIONS broke out at the Wiltshire Music Centre on Saturday after a Bradford on Avon pub donated £1,000 to the centre's creative club for children with learning disabilities.

At the start of May, the Castle Inn pub threw its annual beer festival and raised just shy of £500 for the Zone club - a monthly group to help aspiring musicians, dancers and filmmakers with their future ambitions.

The pub then poured in more than £500 to help the club, which won the Outstanding Contribution award at this month’s Wiltshire Council Public Health Awards, much to the club's delight.

"We were delighted to hand over the cheque to them, they all really appreciated it and we are very happy to support a wonderful cause," said the pub's operations manager, Tori Hill.

"We have a great relationship with them and long may it continue. I also want to thank Bruno Ellingham, Alex Pilkington and Bert Appleton for helping with the festival itself."

The Zone club was launched seven years ago to provide a social space for disabled youngsters living in rural Wiltshire.

Zone Club project manager, Sara Milward-Oliver, said: "We have to fundraise £30,000 a year to keep this fantastic club going, so this donation is really brilliant."
