AFTER three weeks of work to the wall in Market Street, the road has officially been reopened even though it was scheduled until the weekend.
The works, which saw Foundation Piling LTD carry out repairs to the wall, started on October 9 so the company could anchor the wall to stop it falling down and to repair its foundations.
John Robinson, technical director for Foundation Piling LTD, said: "βIt has been closed for three weeks whilst we work on it. The wall was showing signs of distress and was important to fix, we filled the holes and put restraints in.β
Whilst the works were being done the alternative route for traffic took commuters from Masons Lane, to Mount Pleasant, along New Road, to Woolley Street and down Silver Street.
