DOROTHY House Hospice in Winsley will be hosting a series of Christmas services in and around the county.

The Light up a Life services will be starting from November 29 and will run until December 9, giving families a chance to light a candle and remember lost loved ones during the festive season. The nine services will start at Bath Abbey on November 29 at 6pm and will pass through Warminster, Trowbridge, Devizes, Chippenham and parts of Somerset before finishing at Corsham.

Yvonne Brunton, one of the organisers of the services, said: “The Light up a Life services are a very special time for families and friends to join together and remember a loved one. Many people gain great encouragement from attending the services and view it as the start of their Christmas.”

Last year’s appeal raised £45,000 to help fund the essential work that Dorothy House does when treating patients with end of life care.

John Davies, Dorothy House chief executive, said: “It’s a privilege to mark 40 years of Dorothy House with these nine 'Light up a Life' services at Bath Abbey and other places of worship across Somerset and Wiltshire. The services are a great opportunity for families to remember loved ones and reflect before the busy Christmas season begins.”

The next Wiltshire services, after Bath Abbey, will be taking place at 6p in St Andrew’s Church in Long Street, Devizes, and The United Church in George Street, Warminster. Entry is free to all of the services.
