DOROTHY House in Winsley held a special prize draw to mark the hospice’s 40th birthday, with the lucky winner picking up a brand new Citroen.

The hospice, in partnership with Islington Motor Group in Trowbridge, announced the winner of its 40th birthday prize draw with the lucky winner Frances Larcombe and her sister Mary, from Bath, driving away with a new Citroen C1.

“It was wonderful to have picked up the brand new Citroen C1 car on behalf of my sister Mary, who bought our winning raffle ticket in a Dorothy House shop in Bath,” said Mrs Larcombe.

“It was also lovely to meet the hospice team from Winsley as I used to work at Dorothy House in Bloomfield Road in 1992.”

The ticket was drawn by a day patient of the hospice at the base in Winsley on September 30, with Mrs Larcombe and her sister picking it up last week.

Henrietta Beard, corporate fundraiser of Dorothy House, said: “The competition has been a great success with well over 10,000 raffle tickets sold. We’re hugely grateful to Islington Motor Group and all our business partners for getting involved and in particular to Kathy Wyllie of Diamond News, Trowbridge who sold over 200 tickets and to Knorr-Bremse in Melksham who managed to sell an amazing 522.”

After a successful campaign to raise money for the charity whilst also celebrating its 40th birthday, Islington Motor Group in Trowbridge has said it would be happy to work on something similar in the near future.

Dylan Turner, sales director of Islington Motor Group, said: “We are pleased to be working with and supporting such a great charity as Dorothy Hose in their 40th year. The car raffle created a fantastic buzz around our showroom and on our social media pages with lots of customers buying tickets and for someone local to Bath to win the car made it even more special.”
