A BRADFORD on Avon couple welcomed their newborn baby to the sound of fireworks as she entered the world just after midnight on New Year’s Day.

Rosabella Puma was born at 12.47am on January 1 at the Royal United Hospital in Bath weighing 10lb 14oz to parents Charlotte Munro-Puma and Tony Puma.

“She was due on December 23 so we thought she was going to be a Christmas baby but we were prepared through the whole of Christmas, we had it all planned,” said Mrs Munro-Puma.

“I was shocked it happened on New Year’s Day. We didn’t think it was going to happen but then it just happened really quickly and the nurses thought she was going to be a 2016 baby.

We could hear the fireworks as she was being born and the midwives said she was the first one that had been born in the surrounding area for the year.

“All of my children have been overdue so we should have known she was going to come late.”

The couple, who have been together for 10 years and married more than two years ago, have lived in Tyning Road for seven years. They have two other children, seven-year-old Lily and Freddie, aged five.

Mrs Munro-Puma, 34, works as a nurse at the RUH and her 39-year-old husband is a builder.

“Me and Tony knew she was going to be a girl but we kept it a secret from everyone else and there was a lot of guessing going on,” added Mrs Munro-Puma.

“I wanted to name her after a flower as my other daughter is called Lily and my husband is Italian so he wanted an Italian name and that’s how we came up with Rosabella.

“The staff at the RUH did more than I could have expected. They were absolutely fantastic, superb from the start and I couldn’t fault them.”
