A PLUMBER has revealed his devastation after his van was raided and expensive tools were stolen.
Mark White had around £4,000 of his equipment stolen from his locked van overnight on Wednesday, January 18 in Ashley Road, Bradford on Avon.
The 29-year-old, who has run M White Plumbing & Heating for 10 years, is warning other van drivers to be vigilant to avoid a repeat of what happened to him.
“They took some really expensive tools which I’ve built up over the course of 10 years including Makita drills and a new angle drill worth £150,” he said.
“When I opened the door to see what was missing I was devastated. I couldn’t do any work on Thursday as I had to go out and buy loads of new tools.
“I spent around £500 replacing some of the equipment, which combined with the amount taken will have a really bad impact on my business.
“It seems to happening quite often as I’ve spoken to someone else who said his van had been raided too, so I would recommend people take extra care as it is gutting when it happens.”
On the same night that Mr White’s van was raided, tools were stolen from an insecure car parked in Bearfield Buildings, Bradford on Avon.
Community Beat Manager Mark Hough said: “Make sure you secure your vehicles properly and don’t leave valuables on display.
“If you have to keep tools in your van overnight, use good quality locks and think about installing a dash cam if possible.”
