LOVE really was in the air for a couple from Bradford on Avon who celebrated their wedding day with a hot air balloon ride.

Leanne and Ruben Oliver decided to fly high above Royal Victoria Park in Bath on April 7, dressed in their wedding gear and wellington boots. The couple floated above the city skyline for an hour before heading to the Guildhall to exchange their vows.

“It was magical. We had astonishing views of the city and the Somerset countryside. It was such a smooth ride, and remarkably quiet at 3,000 feet,” Mrs Oliver said.

“The weather was beautiful and crisp with a warm sunrise showing its head over the Bath skyline. It was a cloudless morning with a little layer of frost covering the grass.”

The couple had wanted to do a hot air balloon ride for many years so when Ruben proposed on Christmas Day he added the Virgin Balloon Flights ride as a special gift.

“Our landing was like a butterfly on a leaf, soft and gracious. Unfortunately we couldn’t stick around for the Champagne toast as we were against the clock and didn’t want to be late for our big day,” Mr Oliver said.

The couple met in 2005 outside a London nightclub. They split up in 2012 but got back together a few years later and have been with each other ever since.

“The love, which has always been there, stood true and shone through. Love never fails,” Mr Oliver said.

To end their special day, Mr and Mrs Oliver went to The Pig in Pensford for a meal with family and friends.
