TRIBUTES have been paid to teenager Tom Chisnall after his body was found in woodland on Sunday.

Police received a report at 10.25pm the 19-year-old from Winsley was missing. The former St Laurence pupil’s body was found in a woodland area in the village at 11.20pm. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

St Laurence headteacher Fergus Stewart, said: “We have been deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of our former student, Tom Chisnall.

"Tom was a talented, bright and popular young man with a huge future ahead of him.

“He was a very talented sportsman, representing the school at rugby, football and athletics. He was also an accomplished skier, a sport in which he excelled.

“Students and staff have many fond and happy memories of Tom. Always smiling and up for a challenge, he will be sorely missed by the St Laurence School community and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this immensely sad time.”

Tom lived with his parents Andrew, a GP at the Winsley Health Centre, and Kate, sister Tamsin and younger brother Sam at Manor Farm, Winsley. He started working as a plumber for Renelec Ltd in Devizes last year.

When Tom was reported as missing, sister Tamsin posted on her Facebook page to alert people before posting a link to an acoustic version of Sam Smith’s ‘Lay Me Down’ and a praying hands symbol.
