Traditional, engaging, lively and colourful - the Christ Church May Fayre in Bradford-on-Avon last weekend had activities for all ages to enjoy.

Now in its 39th year, the Bank Holiday event included fun stalls and face painting, alongside dancing from the school and the region's premier ladies Morris Dancing side.

Bell's Angels, who are based in Holt, showcased traditional Cotswold-style dancing and also provided the music for the Maypole Dance demonstrated by the school's pupils.

Marion Moyes, one of the Morris side's 'Squires', said: "We've been coming to the May Fair for three years now. It's fantastic to see the children enjoy some traditional English entertainment.

"Fetes like this mark the start of summer and are an important part of family life in the region."

The event was organised by Friends of Christchurch School (FOCCS), whose aim was to have the grounds 'full-to-bursting with activities, entertainment and plenty of good food to eat'.

The Smokey BBQ Pit Stop was popular, featuring pulled pork rolls alongside the usual burgers and hotdogs.

As well as stalls to browse and wellies to wang, families also took each other on in 'old school' games such as wheelbarrow, egg and spoon and sack races.
