RESIDENTS of Bradford on Avon are being urged to step aside from the busy-ness of life and take time out for quiet contemplation.
They are being encouraged to attend a ‘Time to be Still’ event on Sunday, 6 August at the United Church Hall in St Margaret’s Street.
The event, from 5pm to 5.45pm, will welcome people from any church background – and from none – for a short time of stillness, in an informal setting.
Organiser Joyce Harrington said: “We will be using simple repetitive chants from the ecumenical Christian communities of Taize and Iona and other Celtic traditions, along with short meditative readings, prayers and some silence.
“We are encouraging people to drop in to enjoy the stillness, to listen or to join in the short songs.”
Joyce added: “We hope this will become a regular quarterly event in the town. Please feel free to come whenever you can.”
