MORE than £4,000 was raised by Holy Trinity Church’s annual Street Market in Westbury Gardens, Bradford on Avon, last Saturday.
Canon Joanna Abecassis, from Holy Trinity Church, said the event was a resounding success despite the overcast weather early on Saturday morning.
“It was a distinctly grey morning, and a touch chilly, but by lunchtime the sun had come out – along with the crowds – and the Gardens had become a colourful market place teeming with life and with everyone enjoying the fun, live music, good food and finding a bargain.
“Our formula of the combination of hosting all sorts of community and market stalls, combined with the Holy Trinity stalls is something of a winner. This year there were also Church Tower tours organised by the ringers, and a Churchyard Treasure Hunt for children organised by our Churchyard Group.”
Organisers are still counting the funds raised but are hopeful of the grand total topping £4,000 – give or take a few pounds still being adjusted – well up on last year’s £3,351.
Once again, the bric-a-brac stall recorded the biggest total – a whopping £1,114.82 – followed by the Mother’s Union and refreshments stall with £1,024.31.
Other stalls and activities included books, bottles, plants, raffle, the treasure hunt, tower visits, and the Saxon Club.
