MORE than £1,500 was raised towards the Westwood Church funds by the annual village fete held on Saturday.

During the event, residents of Westwood were also able to inspect their newly-opened Parish Room following its refurbishment.

The annual Fete was held from 2pm to 4.30 pm in the grounds of Westwood Manor by kind permission of its owners Emily and Jonathan Azis.

Organiser Lesley Chalmers said: "Although the weather was overcast it stayed dry and more than 200 adults visited along with children, many more than last year, all enjoying a wide variety of stalls and games.

“A grand total over £1,550 was made for the church funds. Visitors also took the opportunity to visit the newly modernised Parish Rooms located next to the church and were able to see the new facilities for themselves.”

The Fete featured jazz on the lawn, skittles, a tombola, coconut shy, plants, a white elephant stalls, raffle, cream teas, ice creams and cakes.

The newly-restored Parish Room, next door to Westwood Manor and Westwood Church, opened at the same time for all to see. Displays in the room showed examples of possible events for which it may be booked.

Now that it has been re-opened, the Parish Room will be used for new activities, family events and by local clubs. For bookings contact westwoodparishrooms@gmail.com
