A RARE combination of puppetry and 16th century music played on recorders small and large proved to be a magic blend of theatre on Sunday.
Around 50 families and children turned out to watch a puppet theatre and recorder performance at Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon.
Dr Dee’s Daughter and the Philosopher’s Stone featured a performance by puppet theatre company Rust & Stardust with music by recorder quartet Palisander.
The show featured music from the 16th century played on recorders from six inches to six feet tall and explored themes of history, magic and science through an exciting blend of music, puppetry and storytelling.
Wiltshire Music Centre spokesperson Camilla Johns said: “We didn’t have a big turnout – around 50 young people and their families – but it was a beautiful show and we’re really pleased to be able to offer affordable family concerts for local children.”
