CHILDREN and parents at a Bradford on Avon primary school have proved they are as ‘fitz as a fiddle’.
They took part in ‘Fitz as a Fiddle’ Burp-athon sports challenge on Tuesday to raise funds to refurbish the school tennis courts.
The Burp-athon was staged at the Fitzmaurice Primary School just off the Frome Road in Bradford on Avon.
Sessions took place throughout the day with 304 pupils taking part to help them raise sponsorship, while the parents were invited to a special session at 2.45pm.
All the children reached their individual targets of 30 burpees in a 20 minute session, and exceeded the overall target of 10,000 with a grand total of 12,604 burpees!
They are hoping to raise £2,500 towards the cost of modernising the tennis courts.
Head teacher Tracey Dunn said: “I am very grateful to Simon and Emma Beatson for suggesting the Burp-athon event and organising alongside Babs Blake our PE leader.
“It was a fantastic effort by staff, pupils and parents.”
