MEMBERS of the 1st Bradford on Avon Beavers are getting ready to launch their Christmas stamp and postal delivery service.

Around 90 boys and girls aged 6-14 years who belong to the Scout Group will use the stamp to deliver Christmas post within the BA15 postcode area.

Residents will be able to put the stamps on Christmas post to send to friends and relatives living in Bradford on Avon, Monkton Farleigh, Turleigh, Winsley and Westwood.

The stamps cost £2.50 for a book of ten and have been designed by seven-year-old Alastair Carey, whose winning artwork was chosen from the 45 entries submitted.

Scout Group leader Pauline Hurley said: “Alastair chose to draw a reindeer because ‘Santa has reindeer’.

“This is the fourth year that we've been delivering a Christmas post in Bradford on Avon and we deliver over 2,000 cards.”

The stamps will be sent to the homes of all the Scout Group’s members. They will also be on sale at shops throughout the town.

Postboxes will be available at Sainsbury’s, the town centre Co-op, the Co-op store in Winsley Road, and village shops in Winsley and Westwood, as well as Bradford on Avon Town Council offices.

The post will be collected on Saturday, December 9 and the Scouts will start delivering the festive greetings on Sunday, December 10.
