PEOPLE that witnessed a car being stolen during a burglary at a home in Bradford on Avon are being asked to come forward by police.

The incident took place in Bridge Street, where the offender got inside the house through the unlocked front door and stole the garage keys from the hallway, before returning later to steal the owner's grey Mazda.

The car, which was stolen at some point overnight on November 14 and 15, was then found abandoned in Wesley Road, Trowbridge, the following evening.

PC Sarah Pickles said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area, from about 7pm on November 14. As well as anyone who may have seen the car before it was found by police on the evening of November 15.

"I would also like to remind people about the importance of keeping their homes secure at all times. These types of crimes are often carried out by opportunistic criminals who are on the look out for unlocked doors or windows."

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
