BUSINESSES in Bradford on Avon could ‘suffer’ as a result of a busy road in the town centre being closed off for more than two weeks.
From 7am on April 18 to May 4, Silver Street will be closed just past the roundabout at the bottom of the hill and it will be closed up to the roundabout up by the B3107.
The work, which includes paving, kerbing and ironwork adjustment after vehicles mounted the kerbs, is actually taking place just outside the Shambles up to Whiteheads Lane.
Owner of the Teapot, in Silver Street, Bobby Morady, said: “Whenever there are road closures in the town, businesses suffer. There is never a good time for these things to happen.”
The diversion route is via Market Street, up Masons Lane and along the B3109. The contractor will maintain access for businesses/residents where possible while the work is taking place. The road will also be closed overnight due to open excavations and narrow road widths.
