The new disabled access ramp at Bradford on Avon’s railway station has opened to the public.

The ramp was officially unveiled by Bradford on Avon town councillor Janet Repton, during a ceremony attended by people who have campaigned for disabled access at the station for a number of years.

First Great Western station manager Dave Martin said: “We are delighted at the improvement for our customers and very pleased that First Great Western could play its role in supporting the local community.”

Author Sue Le Blond, who is disabled and will use the ramp, attended the event on January 21, as did MP Duncan Hames.

Mr Hames said: “This very welcome ramp helps secure access to our railway for all. Maintaining and improving our rail services is at the heart of my agenda for the new Greater Western rail franchise.

“As the incredibly well supported campaign to retain our staffed ticket office has shown, these services are important to commuters, tourists, and local businesses alike.”

It's just as well they did not take a town (or should that be 'city'?) vote on the ramp's installation.

Didn't know there was a station at "Bradford on Avon", but did know there was one at "Bradford-on-Avon". Where is the one which doesn't have hypens?

Did Bradford on Avon interfere with you when you were a child or something? Or is it just that you are living in a shabby, dilapidated town and you can't scrape up enough pennies to move somewhere like Bradford?

The reason why many people in BoA have such a massive chip on their shoulder, and object to nearly every development, is precisely because they really want to live in Bath but cannot afford the house prices there. As a BoA resident accurately described the place in last week's WT, BoA is just like a smaller version of Bath. Still, at least their continual pantomime antics keep us all amused, the redevelopment of the old hospital site and the bridge 'weight checks' are currently providing much of the mirth.

How about "trelawney" you keep your god **** derogatory comments to yourself? There is nothing wrong with Bradford On Avon. It is a darn sight better than other towns in the country!!!
