A SHOPLIFTER had a shock this morning when he was chased up Chippenham High Street by the chief constable of Wiltshire Police.

Chief Cons Patrick Geenty tweeted: "Just chased a shoplifter up Chippenham high street (off duty).

"Goods recovered, crime recorded but he outpaced me, must be getting slow."

I seem to recall officers being dealt with for doing things off duty.....
Apparently the lack of protective equipment and using Wiltshire Polices name could bring the service into disrepute.

Well I guess if there had been officers on foot patrol, then the Chief Constable may not have had to chase and let the errant miscreant get away. That said, with the changes to retirement age, there are likely to be more ageing cops chasing faster more nimble felons and I think we can anticipate the outcomes!
