One Chippenham school will open as usual during the strike by members of the National Union of Teachers tomorrow with others being partly affected.

Trade union members from across Wiltshire are set to rally at County Hall, Trowbridge, tomorrow including firefighters, local government workers and civil servants.

  • Abbeyfield School will be open as normal.
  • Sheldon School will not have any lessons on Thursday or Friday of this week anyway as they have ‘Turnaround Days’, where the new Year 12s will go in on Thursday morning and the new Year 7s will go in on Friday. These will go ahead as planned.
  • Hardenhuish School will open only for pupils in years seven, eight and 12.

Headteacher Jan Hatherell said they are unable to operate a normal school day because they have about 30 teachers affiliated to NUT, the union supporting the action, which amounts to around one third of their teaching staff.

Students attending school should bring with them other work to be getting on with and a book to read in case lessons are affected.
