More budding film makers are needed if Chippenham Movie and Video Club is to remain running in the New Year.

The club’s membership figures are nearly down to single figures resulting in meetings being moved to monthly instead of weekly.

An assessment on whether the club can continue beyond the New Year will be completed at the AGM in January.

Club secretary Jon Brock said: “People would be devastated; nobody wants to be the person who closes it because it’s being going so long.

“Not enough people know about it, as a club we don’t seem to be doing that great at the moment.”

The club was established in 1961 in the days of cine films but now has a professional projector and screen for displaying members’ latest creations.

But with technology being more accessible than ever and the internet offering people solutions to issues and video demos on all the latest kit, the Chippenham club has struggled.

Without the club, members would have to travel to Devizes, Trowbridge or even Frome to continue their hobby.

The club is holding an open evening on Tuesday, November 11, at the Gladstone Road Club and people interested in finding out more about the club can email chippvideoclub@live.com or visit www.chippvideoclub.co.uk
