Staff and students at Wiltshire College are busy creating a large remembrance poppy, made up of individual poppies and including messages of thanks, reflection and commemoration for Remembrance Day.

The initiative has been launched by Cathryn Giles and Lisa Cox, lecturers in Foundation Studies, and all staff and students at the college’s Chippenham campus have been asked to contribute by cutting out and decorating a poppy template, with a special message attached.

Cathryn said: “We usually talk with our students about remembrance as part of our Foundation Studies programme, but as it’s the 100-year anniversary of the First World War, we felt we should do something more this year and give it more of a push.

“We’ve now extended it to the whole college and we’re hoping the effort amounts to one huge poppy collage.”

Once completed, all the campus poppies will be joined to form a large composite poppy, which will be displayed outside the college’s Cove Theatre from Friday for a week.
